February is also called Black History Month,  Heart & Stroke Month, I Love to Read Month (Manitoba), Junior Achievement Month, Psychology Month, Saskatchewan Aboriginal Storytelling Month, and also its shortest month of a year.

The first Saturday of February is observed as Safer Internet Day. The first week of February is observed as Eating Disorder Awareness Week, National Therapeutic Recreation Week, and  White Cane Week (Canadian Council of the Blind). The third week is Scout-Guide Week, Brotherhood/Sisterhood Week, Heritage Week, and the fourth week is Freedom to Read Week.

The third Monday of February is a public holiday for many Canadian provinces celebrated as  Heritage Day and it’s called Family Day in Alberta, Islander Day in Prince Edward Island, and Louis Riel Day in Manitoba.
